Precision, Micro, Nano and Surface Technologies

The fields of precision engineering, micro, nano and surface technology are becoming more and more important because of the increasingly complex requirements for materials and systems. The surfaces of the components can be effectively functionalized while maintaining the volume characteristics. Here in Jena, existing expertise in the fields of physics, chemistry, material processing and precision engineering is being combined. The addressed issues are very diverse and located in the areas of bionics, semiconductor and microsystems technology, surface coating as well as ultra -precision machining. Precision assemblies and general materials can be optimized for various requirements of mechanical stress, electrical or optical functions, interface or barrier effect.
