Human Behavior in Social Change

Since the late 1990s, the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena is characterized by high-level research projects (EU, DFG, …) dealing with disciplinary and interdisciplinary research on social and economic change. The research focus “Human Behavior in Social Change” (“Menschen im Sozialen Wandel”) is coordinating these activities since 2008. Today, Jena is an internationally renowned center for research related to the challenges of globalization, technological and demographic change and how agents manage problems emerging in that context. Renowned scientists from psychology, sociology, economics, law, political sciences, communication science and applied ethics offer their distinctive but also complementary approaches with the aim to improve the understanding of individual behavior and structural changes. In addition to the emphasis on various joint research activities, a special focus is laid on the education and supervision of young scientists.
