Jena Digital
Digital solutions for business and society
Jena Digital e.V. is the innovation network for digital business & science in Jena. As a platform for knowledge transfer, location development and networking, the association has been actively shaping the digital transformation in the city and region since 2021. Members from business, science, administration and civil society work together on future topics such as artificial intelligence, smart city, IT security, digital health and digital education.
Initiated by the Jena Economic Development Agency, Jena Digital 2021 was founded as a non-profit, registered association. This gave the network a stable structure and a growing member base. JenaWirtschaft is still represented on the board today and actively contributes its expertise in urban development, innovation promotion and location marketing.
Diverse events and campaigns
The association offers a wide range of opportunities for exchange, knowledge transfer and training:
- Jena Digital Summer SummIT – annual conference on trends and best practices in digitalisation.
- Specialist groups & workshops – regular work on topics such as open source, digital experiences and human intelligence.
- Educational initiatives – formats such as the Jena Digital Safari (incl. Girls’ Day Edition), the STEM Festival, Code Week Jena and the practical module Digital Economy promote digital skills among pupils and students.
- Network formats – including JENA.AI with a regulars’ table and training series on artificial intelligence as well as the software architecture regulars’ table for developers.
Jena as part of the Digital Hub Initiative
Since September 2024, Jena Digital e.V., together with OptoNet e.V. and Fraunhofer IOF, has been part of the Digital Hub Initiative – an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and the digital association Bitkom. Jena represents the topics of photonics and digital experience platforms and is part of a nationwide network of 25 hubs.
