The A4 (Dresden to Frankfurt am Main), the most important East to West tangent, runs directly by Jena. There are two junctions: Jena-Göschwitz and Jena Center. In a distance of only a few kilometers, it crosses the A9 (Berlin to Munich) at the Hermsdorfer Kreuz. The federal highways B7 and B88 also run through Jena. Inside the city there are numerous parking possibilities.

Train
„Jena Paradies“ is the name of the state of the art ICE station in the center of Jena. It is a stop on the transit line Munich – Nuremberg – Halle/Leipzig – Berlin – Hamburg. The train connection for the line Chemnitz – Kassel – Dortmund as well as the lines Dresden – Erfurt – Frankfurt and Weimar – Glauchau run through Jena Westbahnhof.
Airplane
Thanks to the airfield Schöngleina, Jena is connected to air traffic. This airfield might be used by business travelers or aviation hobbyists. The 1,200 meter long runway is suitable for airplanes up to 5,7 tons. The closest major airport is located 45 kilometers away in Erfurt. Approximately 90 kilometers away, you will find the biggest airport of Central Germany: Leipzig/Halle. Another option is the airport Altenburg-Nobitz in about 75 kilometers.
