By car:
South of Jena passes the A4 autobahn (Frankfurt on Main – Dresden). Just a few kilometers off Jena it crosses the A9 autobahn (Berlin – Munich) at the motorway junction Hermsdorfer Kreuz. In addition, the federal highways B7 and B 88 go through Jena. There are a variety of parking lots within the city.
By train:
“Jena Paradies” – “Jena paradise” – is the name of the state-of-the-art ICE railway station located in the city centre. Trains stop here on the long distance routes Munich – Nuremberg – Halle/Leipzig – Berlin – Hamburg. The east-west-connection for the routes Chemnitz – Kassel – Dortmund and Dresden – Erfurt – Frankfurt and Weimar – Glauchau pass via the Jena railway station “West”.
By plane:
The closest commercial airport is located in Erfurt, 45 kilometers away. The airport Leipzig/Halle is the largest airport of Central Germany, about 90 kilometers away. In addition, the Altenburg-Nobitz airport in a distance of 75 kilometers can be used as well. Business and sport pilots can also use the landing site Schöngleina near Jena. Planes with a total weight up to 5.7 tons can touch down and take off along the 1,200m long landing strip.
