The Faculty is in close contact to companies of Jena. Its students engage in lots of practical experiences during their studies, for example in one of the numerous software companies. Professors and scientific staff pay special attention to the recruitment of trainees. Events such as the “trial studies Computer sciences” especially for girls are an important part of their routine.
Faculty of Physics and Astronomy
The time needed to obtain a degree in physics in Jena is the second to shortest in the whole of Germany. Additionally to the mandatory education in mathematics, the faculty offers a lecture “Mathematical tutorials for Physicists” supporting students with the accomplishment of mathematical challenges.
Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences
The Faculty hosts the subjects Chemistry, Geology, Mineralogy, Geophysics and Geography. Their graduates are highly sought after by companies when it comes to filling vacancies with a natural scientific background.
Faculty of Biology and Pharmacy
Here, future biologists, biochemists, pharmaceutics, nutritionists, Biology teachers and respective masters are educated within the field of Biology and History of the natural sciences and technology.
The Jena medical school enjoys a great reputation. The manageable number of enrolled students each year (about 250 in human medicine and about 60 in dentistry) ensures a full-scale education and good studying conditions during the preclinical and clinical phase.
