Making visions reality

In the beginning there is always the good idea. Founders are visionaries that strive to realize a dream. Jena provides dynamic support through technology and start up centres, so newcomers can concentrate their time and energy on the core of their project. Those centres ease the starting phase by providing, for example, inexpensive rooms with adequate technical environments. Founders are offered consultation with regard to the registration of their business, the application for subsidies or their PR activities.

Since the 1991 founding, the Technology and Innovation Park Jena supports more than 175 young, technology oriented enterprises from the fields of nano and microsystem technology, sensor systems and optics, communications and software development as well as medical and green technology. The ideas and company profiles include the automatic manufacturing of aspheric lenses, the microfabrication of superconductive sensors, the development of hardware and software systems for virtual factories, but also miniaturized technical solutions for chemical environmental analytics, new optical measuring technology and novel medical solutions for the manufacturing of patient specific implants.

The BioCentiv GmbH is a company of the Ernst Abbe Foundation Jena – the competence centre for bioinstruments. This branch specific technology and start up centre was opened in September 2000 as an integrated part of the Beutenberg Campus. It supports founders and entrepreneurs in the field of bioinstruments who use their knowledge of structures and principles of biology to develop instruments that are associated with this scientific field.

The East Thuringian Chamber of Commerce (IHK) also provides support for founders

The East Thuringian Chamber of Commerce offers consultation days to entrepreneurs.
The consultants are available from 09:00 am – 3:00 pm at the IHK Education Center Jena, Zeitzer Str. 2, 07743 Jena.
